Thoughts on picture exercise (Kevin Carter)

Firstly, it is amazing how a picture can say a thousand words. Our group feels that it was not fair that he was  being condemned by the public.In the first place,he was instructed not to help anyone as it could spread diseases when there is contact between a victim and an uninfected person.Based on our research ,we also found out that there were guards making sure he did not offer help and thus he was only abiding by the rules.Moreover, he did not have the proper equipment to offer help. However,the majority of the public chose to look at this from another point of view.Well, humans can make their own choices  and thus Kevin could have offered help but it seems that ,the consequences of Kevin carter doing the "RIGHT THING" ,had never occurred to the public.Kevin could have died from getting infected and the child could have never been saved too as there was no immediate help available.The consequences of helping could have been worse.We believe the purpose of taking this picture was to raise awareness of the famine and poverty that was happening in Africa but isn't poverty happening because of the government's incapability of running a country?It is sad how the public targeted Kevin because it was a one against the government  kind of thing.Instead, the public could have looked at it from a more positive point of view. The picture could have sparked some positivity by raising awareness .This way more people would have been aware of the situation in Africa and they probably could have helped in a more practical way by starting a foundation that ,for example, provides taps and allow the people to have access to clean water (which is currently happening now).Or they could have simply helped by donating money to charities which support Africa.So did Kevin still do the "right thing"?
